File storage

A jpeg file storage is a lossy compression technique for color images. Jpeg can reduce file sizes by 5% of their normal size. To upload work from Photoshop to WordPress the file has to be a Jpeg to work.

A raw file is the image that is seen by the camera's sensor. Like an unprocessed film. If you shoot in a raw it allows you to process the image to your liking. A way of adjusting the image is by opening photoshop with your image and adobe camera raw will open.

From here you can adjust values like the exposure or the temperature. If you move the exposure slider the result will be the image is reflected.

Support

A tripod is a three legged support that helps hold the camera up. They usually cost around £29.

Here is a diagram on how to setup a tripod.

Handheld where you take pictures free handed. By using handheld its more efficient like in a horror film because a camera can fit into small places and can move over a long distance.  It also create an element of surprise like TMZ how follow celebrity around to get the latest scoops.

camera lighting

Lighting
Flash: This is a short flash of light which helps illuminate a scene. It is at its best use at night or indoor photography.
Exposure: This determines how bright or dark an image will appear when it is captured by the camera. The camera settings that determine this are aperture, ISO and shutter speed.
Colour: The colour temperature describes the spectrum of light. This radiated from a blackbody with a surface temperature which is an object that absorbs all incident light. It doesn’t reflect and don’t allow it to pass through.
White Balance: This is the process of removing unrealistic colour cast so the object will appear white and in person are rendered white. The colour temperature of a light source has to be taken into account so the warmth and coolness.
Lights: Lights are the main ingredient in a photography. There are four kinds of artificial light sources for photography. They are tungsten, fluorescent, and natural, artificial.

Fluorescent lights are used to light up public buildings and offices. They have been around for decades and aren't common in photography.

Tungsten lights use a 500 watt lamp with a colour temperature of 3200k. This is a standard white balance setting on a digital camera.

Natural light is natural light. This means when you take a picture outside the lighting is either sunlight or moon light.
Artificial lighting is everything else. So this could be you need more light, a different colour light or you might want more control over the creative purpose.

capturing images

Capturing images:
Viewfinder: These days all cameras has a screen on the back for framing and viewing photos, but not all contain a viewfinder. A viewfinder allows you to shoot in bright sunlight. The potentially major factor can depended on how much outdoor shooting you have planned. They use less power than a LCD screens.

Lens: Camera lens creative uses is to give photography its expressive qualities. The camera lens shapes the way we see the world through the viewfinder. There a several different types of camera lens like the Standard lens which has a fixed focal lens and the standard lens can reproduces quite accurately what the human eye can see. Another lens is a wider angle. This is a natural choice for capturing outdoor landscapes and group portraits.

Image sensor: This is an electrical devices that can convert a light to an electronic signal form.

Aperture: This is a hole within the lens which allows light to travel through to the camera body for a good picture.

Shutter: The shutter is the lid that open when the camera fires. They responsible for creating dramatic effects by freezing action or using the blurring motion.

Memory: A memory card is where all the photo’s you take are stored. The type of memory cards that cameras use SD which are the most common type of memory card and another one is a CompactFlash which offer a high storage capacity.
